Carl Brothers has been the art teacher at Frankfort and Centralia schools for 22 years. He received his bachelor degree in Fine Arts and Education from Pittsburg State University in 1975. His first teaching job was with Baileyville schools, where he taught for four years. He then retired to paint full time and take classes from an academy graduate in Topeka, Kansas. Carl began teaching at USD 380 in 1982 but continued taking painting lessons for many years. His art classes have received six trophies in the last ten years at art contests. In 1992 he bought a building in Centralia to turn it into a studio for his art. Later he turned it into a pottery business and has enjoyed making and sellling pottery for many years. Carl attends art shows mainly in Kansas, Missouri and Colorado to sell his pottery. He attends 10 to 12 art shows a year mostly in the summer and fall. Carl enjoys traveling to distant places to see what others are doing in the area of art.
